A Five Points home becomes a neighborhood gallery

A Five Points art home, Palladium concerts, Morean artists, and Fourth plans at the Pier.

Lead story

A Five Points home becomes a neighborhood gallery

Cassandra Collins has turned her Five Points home into a gallery for Tampa Bay artists, filling the space with paintings, photographs, mixed media, and sculpture. Collins, 61, came to the project after careers in therapy and medical imaging, and is now building a third act as an arts advocate, curator, and promoter. The gallery is open by appointment, with more public-facing events in the works, including an August show planned at Outcast Brewing. The April open-gallery weekend gave neighbors a first look at the idea: local art in a home setting rather than a formal museum or commercial gallery. It is a small but very St. Pete story, because the city runs on these in-between creative spaces as much as on its bigger arts institutions. Another house, studio, or side room has joined the local arts map.

Dancebox brings its spring concert to the Palladium

Dancebox Studio brings its 10th annual Spring Dance Concert to Hough Concert Hall this Saturday, June 20. The Palladium listing puts the performance on the big stage, so it is a clean weekend pick for families and anyone who likes seeing local dance groups get a proper theater night. Dance recitals can sound niche until you remember how many local families, teachers, and students are connected to them. If you want something indoors, structured, and local on Saturday, this is one of the better options.

Movement Mondays return to the Pier

The Pier keeps its summer programming moving with Movement Mondays on June 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. The recurring series is built for an easy after-dinner stop: music, movement, and a waterfront setting without needing to commit the whole night. If the weather cooperates, it is one of the simpler ways to use the Pier on a weeknight. Bring water, watch the sky, and make it a short visit if the humidity wins.

Fresh Squeezed 10 opens a new Florida artist round

Fresh Squeezed 10 opens Thursday, June 25, bringing another round of emerging Florida artists into the Morean Arts Center orbit. The exhibition runs through August 24, so this is not a one-night dash. It is the kind of show to keep in your pocket for a hot or rainy afternoon downtown. The useful thing here is flexibility: you can pair it with lunch, use it as an indoor break, or save it for a quieter weekend when the big events thin out.

The Mavericks get a Friday-night tribute at the Side Door

Talk to Mark brings Dance in the Moonlight, a tribute to The Mavericks, to the Palladium Side Door Cabaret on Friday, June 26. It is a smaller-room music option for anyone who wants a concert night without the big-hall feel, and the Side Door setup makes it easier to turn into dinner-and-a-show downtown.

Barre with Freebird starts Saturday at the Pier

Freebird Fitness brings a morning barre class to the Pier on Saturday, June 27. The timing is the useful part: early enough to get movement in before the heat settles in, and still close to coffee, breakfast, or a walk along the water afterward.

projectALCHEMY stages What Remains at Hough Hall

projectALCHEMY brings What Remains to Hough Concert Hall on Saturday, June 27. Put it on the short list if you follow contemporary dance or want a more performance-driven weekend plan than the usual bar-and-restaurant loop.

The Pier is already lining up July Fourth

The Pier has The Fourth - Celebrating America 250 on the calendar for Saturday, July 4 from 4 to 10 p.m. It is far enough out to plan around parking, dinner, and visitors, which is exactly why it is worth saving now if your holiday weekend will run through downtown. Expect the waterfront to be busy, and think about transit, rideshare, or a longer walk if you want to avoid the worst of the traffic.

F45 adds a Friday bootcamp on the waterfront

F45 Training has a bootcamp listed at Family Park on the Pier for Friday, July 3 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. If you like your holiday weekend with a little structure before the fireworks and food, this is the active option to pencil in. It also gives residents one more reason to use the Pier before the evening holiday crowds arrive.
